If you want to create a long-term change in your company, you need culture cultivation.  After all, employees are the backbone of any organization. If they feel under appreciated or they’re unhappy, they’re going to be churning out bad work, which will result in a loss for your company. Unfortunately, you may not see the results of bad company culture immediately. This could prove to become a problem because once you have noticed, the effects could be repairable. In the long run, you’ll notice that your company is stuck in a rut. You’ll find your business not moving forwards at all, or worse, moving backwards. To avoid this kind of situation, consider the following tips:

Culture Cultivation Tips:Culture Cult

  1. Be Aware. A lot of people are just not aware of the fact that their employees are unhappy. How can you spend so much time around a set of people without being aware of how they feel? Try to keep your eyes and ears open so that you know what’s going on around you at all times. Don’t be above listening to gossip because this is the best way to keep track of who’s happy and who’s unhappy in your organization. But don’t stop there, establish a free flowing, open conversation with your employees. Ask them what they enjoy about the work culture and what they may not enjoy as much. Once you know the source of a problem, you’ll easily be able to solve it -or at least work towards a viable solution.
  2. Be Creative. If one of your employees is unhappy, there could be a number of solutions to their problem. You might feel that the only thing that’s going to make your employees happy is an increase in pay, which you can’t afford. But many people are fine with working for low pay as long as they have a working environment that they like. Do your employees feel like they can speak openly with their supervisors? Do they have a quiet working environment in which they can concentrate on their tasks? Do they get regular breaks? Do they feel involved in the workings of the company? All these things are also important to employees. So if you can give them any of these, they might not mind the fact that you can’t increase their pay.
  3. Learn from Others. If you admire certain aspects of certain organizations, there’s no reason why you can’t adopt them as well. Some companies encourage employees to get to know each other and socialize. Others might create beautiful working environments via interior decoration. Yet others might have regular brainstorming sessions to which everyone is invited. Keep in mind that a company is a growing, changing organism. By letting in new ideas, you’re promoting its growth along with the happiness of your employees.
