Men and women in management must open their own door to success, and our women leadership coaching skills will show you how. One idea we encourage women to try is to take the initiative. Don’t expect things to come to you naturally. Fight for it.

An interview from Gloria Feldt explains some ways women can start taking the initiative.

  • women leadersReach out to both men and women and form both wide array of connections and also a support group. Help females you know and trust, and ask for her help when you need it. Have a friendly and kind approach as you chat with people. Additionally, reach out and help men in the same approach. Cast a wide net of connections.
  • In meetings or in private, have the courage to ask questions and explain business concerns in a professional manner. You can talk to management or your support group without being pushy. Saying nothing even though you’re confused hurts the initiative approach.
  • Inform your boss about your accomplishments. Going beyond your day-to-day standard operations is a great personal achievement. If you are aiming for something more than a pat on the back, tell the boss about your achievements.  Let him or her know about future career goals. Casually mention it and don’t go overboard with mentioning achievements. Alternately, let the support group speak about your accomplishments for you.
  • Be prepared to walk. Sometimes the hierarchy of management isn’t working in your favor. Seek out job employment opportunities that will be happy to have you. If you know you have something to offer accept nothing less. Remain in contact with the support group through social media, phone chats, and lunch/coffee dates.
